5th Standard, in my school, students were required to write with an ink pen or a Pilot Pen ONLY, as it improves the handwriting. So I told my parents the same and Mom was like “We will get it, don’t worry”. A week passed by and I was still waiting for my Pilot Pen. At this point, my patience was running out and so was my teacher’s, as I was the only one writing with a pencil. I came back home and started crying saying “Everybody has a PILOT PEN”. Mom looked at me and said I will tell your DAD to get it for you. It was embarrassing for me to be in school without the Pilot Pen, so I cried every day for 3 days and finally, my Mom handed over Rs 16 for the Pilot Pen but with a caution, “Handle with Care”. And handled I did, writing slowly with utmost care, loving the touch of a smooth pen for the very first time, Life was good.

The following day, something unimaginable happened and I broke the delicate “NIB OF THE PEN” and my world came crashing down, there laid my Pilot Pen broken. I decided not to tell anyone at home and went to the same shop from where the Pilot Pen was brought and said: “Uncle, I broke the nib of my pen can you please fix it”. Gentleman said it costs Rs 5, after a few negotiations I convinced him to receive partial payments in a week or 10 days and as I remember, I gave the First installment of Rs 1, second of Rs 2 and Third of Rs 2 to clear my Debt.

This makes a PILOT PEN most valued in my life. Till date, seeing PILOT PEN in someone’s pocket still makes me smile.
